April 3, 2024 - Crews Resigns from Shelbyville Police Department It has been my honor to serve as the Deputy Chief of Police and to lead the Shelbyville Police Department in that capacity. I love this community, this department, and the men and women who sacrifice so much to keep Shelbyville safe. External and internal factors have led me to make this decision. Since I was a young child, I have wanted to be the Chief of Police in my hometown. The closer I get to that opportunity, the more I realize the Lord has other plans for me. Making the decision now, although difficult, will allow the department to move forward. I am proud of the things we have accomplished together, and I commit to work hard to assure a smooth transition. Throughout my law enforcement career, there was never any doubt that the Lord’s hedge of protection was over me and the men and women of the SPD as I worked hard to fulfill HIS will for my life. Over the last several weeks, I have sensed a new purpose for my life, one that I am sure some will not understand but also one I am excited to pursue. I have accepted a position outside of local government into the corporate world with a company known for taking care of its employees, giving back to the community, supporting law enforcement and public education; all of which are very important to me both personally and professionally. My family and I plan to remain in Shelbyville and to continue to be a part of this community. We also plan to continue to support the men and women of the Shelbyville Police Department. I encourage this community to continue to do the same.
