August 29, 2023 - First Amendment Auditors Visit Local Government Departments

Monday,  several reports of First Amendment Auditors surfaced here in Bedford County.
What is a First Amendment Auditor?  A self proclaimed group of individuals or organization whose goal is to assure government employees and officials abide by the first amendment by not responding to their tactics of provocation.

Several Bedford County and City of Shelbyville employees and department heads experienced an auditor or auditors on Monday as they made their rounds throughout local offices.   No reports of violence or escalation have been reported at this time, but we will be monitoring the situation for any further developments.

All county and city employees and officials are encouraged to ignore the provoking speech and go about their business in a professional manner.
