November 10,  2023 - Shelbyville Honors Employees Who Served
by Joshua Blevins

On Thursday evening, a gathering took place at the City Council chambers in Shelbyville, where numerous city employees and their families convened to express gratitude to the 31 veterans currently employed by the city. Mayor Randy Carroll, a former member of the US Navy, took the opportunity to present a token of appreciation to each attending veteran and extend heartfelt thanks for their dedicated service to the country.

Among those acknowledged were Councilmember William Christie, Fire Chief Matt Doak, and five additional firefighters, as well as Police Chief Jan Phillips and twelve other police officers. Additionally, recognition was given to three employees of Animal Control, one Codes employee, three employees of Parks and Recreation, and three Public Works employees, one of whom is currently deployed with the Army National Guard.

Shelbyville NOW extends its sincere appreciation to those recognized, along with all the other veterans in our community, for their sacrifice and service.
